An Update from Dave & Sunny
by DBarnum on Apr.11, 2010, under Uncategorized
Greetings from Dave & Sunny,
Sunny and I have been enjoying this year as a new family of three. Our daughter Kayla is growing quickly and is now five and a half months old. Sunny spends most of her time keeping Kayla happy and healthy. I am still currently employed at a credit and banking company as an IT engineer. The most exciting news for us is that we were recently accepted as members of Wycliffe USA Bible Translators. I will be joining the full time staff as a Network Administrator at Wycliffe’s headquarters in Orlando Florida.
For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NLT)

You just did something that around 350 million people cannot do. You read God’s Word in the language you’ve most likely spoken from infancy — the language you understand best and that touches your heart (Chinese included for our Chinese speaking friends
). My goal will be to use my talents/gifts/skills with computers and passion to see more people know Jesus to help Wycliffe in their goal of translating the bible into every last unreached language on earth. Wycliffe’s goal is a big one! Our vision is to see translation work started in every last language by the year 2025. There are more than 2000 languages representing 350 million people that desperately need a bible that speaks to their heart. Wycliffe is employing many creative strategies to try to reach this goal. As a network administrator I will be helping Wycliffe use technology to achieve this goal. My primary role will be to manage their network and computer infrastructure at the headquarters location. I will also have a role in helping translators with using technology to do their work more efficiently and helping the organization store, manage, and spread this translation data.
Please pray for us as we embark on this journey as a family. Right now we’ve just finished 6 weeks of online training and will be headed to Orlando for more on-site training with Wycliffe from 4/9/10-4/23/10. We are praying that God will arrange the support we need to start this work by sometime next year. Please pray for us as we travel down to Florida tomorrow.
Love,
Dave, Sunny, & Kayla Barnum
